About the Air Tractor AT-802

Amphibious water bomber

It refills while skimming a suitable lake, river, or sea surface, then makes short water-drop rotations when a safe water source is close to the fire. It attacks flames directly with water or foam rather than laying long retardant lines.

What this type can do

The Fire Boss adds amphibious floats and scoops roughly 3,100 litres in about 15 seconds. When usable water is close, its small load, agility, and rapid refill cycle let several aircraft maintain repeated, accurate attacks.

This describes the type’s usual firefighting capability; it does not prove what this aircraft is carrying or doing now.

Air Tractor AT-802

The Air Tractor AT-802 is an American agricultural aircraft that may also be adapted into fire-fighting or armed versions. It first flew in the United States in October 1990 and is manufactured by Air Tractor. The AT-802 carries a chemical hopper between the engine firewall and the cockpit. In the U.S., it is considered a Type III SEAT, or Single Engine Air Tanker.
